Purpose of Position

Administers Board Agenda process for Board Meetings, develop/execute special events hosted by Board of Regents, and undertake special projects assigned by Chairman and General Counsel.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in administration of the Board agenda process for meetings and/or special meetings of the Board, including review of agenda documents to ensure agenda items are accurate and meet needs of Board.
  • Assists with the preparation of Board minutes and open meeting notices.
  • Plans and coordinates logistical aspects of Board meetings.
  • May work directly with members of the Board of Regents on a variety of matters, often handling confidential and administrative matters related to preparation of meeting support documentation.
  • Undertakes research of historical documents and special projects for the Board Chairman, General Counsel to the Board, and Senior Associate General Counsel to the Board.
  • Performs a wide range of unique duties at the request of the General Counsel and members of the Board of Regents, including the preparation of special reports and assignments as requested by members of the Board of Regents and General Counsel to the Board.
  • Proofreads correspondence and documents prepared by office staff.
  • Participates in the general upkeep of the Board Office web site and keeping historical records involving Board meetings and events.
  • Serves as Records Management Coordinator for the Board Office.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain composure and adjust to individual information and communication styles and preferences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years of progressively responsible related administrative experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the U.T. System. Experience working with the governing board of an institution of higher education or a state agency.

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Uses standard office equipment
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend hours

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
