JOB MISSION:

As a Maintenance Technician I, you will assist in constructing, altering, and repairing buildings, office space, fixtures and equipment utilizing various skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical.  Utilize hand tools, bench and portable tools and equipment.  Interpret drawings and specifications to complete work assignments.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Construct, alter or repair items that may include but not limited to: boxes, shelving, benches, tables, furniture, racks walls, floors roofing.
  • Construct or repair foundations, platforms, walkways, and roadways made of concrete cement blocks, brick or asphalt
  • Repair or install piping for air, water and steam with appropriate materials.  Replace or repair valves and fixtures for toilets, sinks, urinals and other fixtures and equipment.
  • In coordination with electrician, make electrical repairs, replace, or install switches, plugs, lamp fixtures, starters, ballasts, fuses and circuit breakers. Make repairs utilizing standard tools on voltages up to 220 volts.
  • Assemble or repair equipment such as conveyors, air compressors, manufacturing equipment and boilers.
  • Conduct safety and fire protections audits to check sprinklers, fire extinguishers, Emergency exits/signs, risers, eye wash stations and safety violations.  Document findings and report to Health/Safety and facilities supervisor for action.
  • May clean debris outside of building.  Monitor and support snow removal crew in areas of entrances and walks, parking areas and sand/salt as necessary.
  • Move materials as necessary in performance of duties or as directed.
  • Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to the supervisor.  Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations including lockout/tagout procedures.  Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • May perform additional related duties as required but not limited to: Housekeeping/Janitorial activities, low pressure boiler operations, painting and fire watch patrol.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Travel to other NB locations as needed to assist with repairs or installations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2-5 years of work experience utilizing carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills.  Physical ability to lift moderate to heavy weight materials and climb ladders.  Requires movement throughout the facility.
