Role Summary:

This position is focused on Derivatives Risk reporting to the Senior Investment Analytics Manager within the Investment Risk group. The Investment Analytics team members are subject matter experts on Derivatives, Liquidity, and Climate Risk. Team members work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide oversight of these risks across T. Rowe Price portfolios. The ability to successfully work with portfolio managers, traders/portfolio modelers, investment analysts, quants, and risk managers/analysts will be important to ensure business needs are met in a time sensitive manner.

The Analytics Manager will be a subject matter expert on derivatives use across T. Rowe Price portfolios, including but not limited to, notional exposure generated from derivatives use within portfolios, the role derivatives play as a part of overall portfolio strategy, and how portfolios are impacted by US-based regulatory requirements due to their derivatives use. Key opportunities include the design and implementation of reporting and ongoing communication with a variety of groups within the firm involved with the usage and monitoring of derivatives within portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on exposure calculations used to derive notional-based exposures from derivatives use in portfolios.
  • Support Legal and Investment Compliance with derivatives-related regulatory requirements and keep abreast of US-based regulatory developments in the derivatives space.
  • Engage with technology staff, including business analysts and developers, to build new reporting for monitoring derivatives use across portfolios while maintaining and enhancing existing reporting.
  • Provide ad-hoc and recurring derivatives reporting and analysis for internal and external stakeholders including PMs, clients, Risk Committees, and Fund Boards.
  • Support T. Rowe Price’s Derivatives Risk Manager in ongoing compliance with SEC Derivatives Rule 18f-4, which requires daily monitoring of risk levels in portfolios from derivatives use and communication with portfolio managers and other Investments staff as needed.
  • Support the Senior Investment Analytics Manager and teammates in Liquidity and Climate Risk.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 5+ years of total relevant work experience

Preferred:

  •  Graduate degree in a quantitative field such as quantitative finance, statistics, applied mathematics, or engineering
  • Work experience in finance or analytics including knowledge of derivatives
  •  Experience with SQL and Excel, a statistical programming language (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB), and business intelligence tools such as PowerBI
  • Professional accreditations such as CFA, FRM, or CAIA
  • Experience with investment management applications (market data tools like Bloomberg, Factset, risk modelling tools like MSCI RiskManager, MSCI BarraOne, Bloomberg PORT, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
