Goodwill USA Jobs Careers Description/Overview

RESPONSIBLE TO: Accreditation and Organizational Assessment Manager

DIVISION/DEPART: Member Advancement/Member Executive Support

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

BASIC FUNCTION: 

  • Monitor and facilitate local compliance with the accreditation policy of Goodwill Industries International, including a review of acceptable State standards, coordination and completion of pre-CARF surveys, reviews of accreditation results, and review of any required corrective actions resulting from accreditation reviews.
  • Establish and design consultative services that lead to Goodwill members achieving three-year CARF accreditations.
  • Monitor, facilitate and conduct pre-CARF surveys and other related organizational strengthening consultations.
  • Provide consultations, training, research and information dissemination of accreditation and related information to member Goodwill’s via webinars, conferences, events and other venues.
  • Manage, maintain and provide support for the online Organizational Strengthening Community.

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

  • Work within the Member Executive Support department to create an understanding of the proper role for accreditation and/or certification in the Goodwill business model.
  • Provide support to Goodwill members in their preparation for certification or accreditation including member-requested training and on-site reviews.
  • Assist with developing and coordinating plans of action using a cross-functional team approach responding to individual Goodwill members showing to be potentially at-risk.
  • Establish and maintain a central resource area for information and appropriate accreditation-related technical assistance materials and reports on the Organizational Strengthening page in MyGoodwill.
  • Conduct research and analysis of trends in the areas of accreditation, health and safety and other areas impacting the membership.
  • Develop resource/information toolkits, white papers, templates and training modules based on leadership, accreditation/compliance trends and member need.
  • In coordination with Manager, monitor for standards changes (CARF or other accreditation process as appropriate). Provide members with the most current information relative to those accreditation standards.
  • Provide training and instruction in accreditation, governance and corporate compliance and other applicable topics via webinar and other Goodwill training venues.
  • Manage special projects which are relevant to the accreditation and other department functions as necessary. Assess member needs with respect to statistics, reports, tracking, processes and offer resources based on identified trends.
  • Participate in GII-sponsored learning events by assessing key issues, identifying guest speakers and/or conducting the training for the Goodwill members. Provide support as a community leader for the Organizational Strengthening, MyGoodwill Community.
  • Assist with monitoring the Human Resources and other email lists, respond to member queries and concerns as appropriate, and identify potential training needs and/or trends.
  • Document and communicate to the GII consultation team concerns regarding member activity that may affect operational lines of business (retail, contracts, and mission services).
  • In coordination with Manager, engage in supporting overall department goals. Exercise discretion and individual judgment and complete other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:  

  • Internal: Frequent contact with other GII staff to coordinate or support cross-functional activities.
  • GII Members: Frequent contact with CEOs and staff of local Goodwills.
  • External: Occasional contact with business and industry, and other professional organizations.
  • Government Officials: N/A

Qualifications

SKILLS NEEDED:  

  • Knowledge of GII standards, CARF, OSHA Standards and continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Current/active CARF surveyor or qualifies for training as a CARF surveyor.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent consultation skills—in person or via telecommunication that lend themselves to working in a virtual working environment.
  • Understand the impact of multiple lines of business on the overall organizational structure.
  • Ability to relate well to others, both individually and in groups.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based computer skills, including intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Smartsheet.
  • Ability to perform travel as needed. (Estimated 10%)

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in business management, social or human services, rehabilitation, education or equivalent combination of experience and education.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Ten or more years of experience in the field of non-profit administration, quality assurance, and/or consultation and training.
  • Prior experience working at or with local Goodwill Industries highly desirable.
  • Current/active CARF surveyor or qualifies for training as a CARF surveyor.
  • Grant management and program monitoring experience helpful.

DECISION MAKING: Makes independent decisions on scheduling tasks, determining priorities, and recommendations/priorities for member Goodwills; time management decisions; exercises discretion and individual judgment.

SUPERVISION: None.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Medium, lifting 50 lbs. maximum with periodic lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Frequent walking and standing are required (may be accommodated).

EMOTIONAL EFFORT: Moderate, occasional short deadlines requiring some extended hours on task. Work environment may be hectic with occasional to frequent periods of high stress. Positive, cordial and quality customer service to Goodwill members is required at all times.
