Canadian Embassy Qatar UAE Jobs Careers Description/Overview

Summary of position:
The successful candidate will report to the Management and Consular Officer (MCO). Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Processing passport applications and citizenship applications for Canadians abroad;
  • Responding to emergency situations involving Canadians in distress;
  • Supporting the development of contingency planning and outreach programs;
  • Providing administrative and financial services in support of consular, passport and citizenship services
Essential qualifications:

Candidates will be screened on the essential criteria below and must demonstrate in their covering letter how they meet these elements. Only candidates who meet the screening criteria will be invited for further assessment:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

Language:

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Fluency in French, both written and spoken
  • Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken.
Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of recent*, relevant experience in the field of administration and/or client focused position for a corporate organization, foreign mission or other government office or international organization.
  • Experience in collaborating with and liaising with representatives of the Qatari Authority, foreign governments and/or international organizations.
  • Experience providing client service and working with external service providers*Recent is defined as within the past three (3) years

Rated Requirements

  • The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of Canadian cultural, legal and political landscape.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience providing passport and consular services for a Government organization
  • Work experience in Canada or in an organization with Canadian clients
  • Experience working in a Canadian diplomatic mission abroad

Candidates must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Operational Requirements:
  • Ability to work occasional overtime (evenings, weekends if necessary)
  • Ability to travel and attend offsite meetings/work requirements.
Condition(s) of Employment:
  • Right to work legally in Qatar.
  • Must maintain an enhanced reliability security clearance at all times.
  • Must successfully complete the Passport Management Program for Foreign Operations training including receiving a grade of 80% or more on the certification exam.
