Camelback Ventures USA Jobs Careers Description/Overview

Camelback Ventures (Camelback) increases access to opportunity for entrepreneurs of color and women by investing in their ventures and leadership while advocating for fairness in their funding.

Camelback’s flagship program is the Camelback Fellowship. Since 2015, Camelback has raised over $20M and supported 94 social entrepreneurs – 95% identified as people of color and 55% as women. Our Fellows have raised over $50M dollars, have been named as Forbes 30 under 30, and made an impact nationwide in communities from Eastern North Carolina to Seattle.

Search & Align is Camelback’s strategy to engage with entrepreneurs of color, women, and non-binary founders outside of the Fellowship in order to meet them where they’re at with equity-centered approaches. Predominantly, this includes the application and selection process that engages, recruits, and evaluates candidates for the Fellowship. The Associate, Search & Align will collaborate with their Manager on the design and systems for these activities.

THE ROLE

The Associate, Search & Align will manage logistics & operations for hosting an application & selection cycle – including organizing application data, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring an equitable candidate experience. Outside of the Fellowship application, the Associate will also support the creation of other opportunities for Camelback to engage entrepreneurs of color, women, and non-binary founders.

The Associate’s goal is to maintain organizational systems while building relationships with applicants and recruitment partners. We will use tools like AirTable, SurveyMonkey, and Notion to amplify the work.

We hope the person in this role will have a passion for entrepreneurship and is excited about the opportunity to help identify BIPOC talent for the Fellowship and create more opportunities for their ventures.

THE PERSON

The person we would be over-the-moon to work with is excited to add to our culture based on: a deep belief in our mission; a desire for constant learning; a spirit that is unafraid of failure; and an ethic that is humble, yet hungry. The Associate, Search & Align will see themselves in the examples below:

  • Organizing and planning. You plan, organize, schedule, and budget your time in an efficient and productive manner. You do not need to be taught how to manage yourself or others. You have your own systems and tools and know how to leverage those tools to help manage others.
  • Relationship Builder. You enjoy meeting new people and can be a connector for new stakeholders to the organization. This could mean introducing yourself at (virtual) networking events, following up for a 1:1, and continually engaging the person where our missions overlap.
  • Follow through on commitments. You live up to your professional and personal commitments. You rarely have to break commitments because you say yes to those things you can truly do and say no to the things that you cannot. You are effective at setting up boundaries for yourself and therefore, setting up boundaries for others.
  • Fast learner. You learn quickly. You understand how you best absorb information and will take proactive steps to do what you need to do to learn something new even if your manager or boss is not presenting the information in a way that is most helpful.
  • Detail orientation. You do not let important details fall through the cracks. You have a way of organizing yourself that ignores memory altogether. You do not rely upon your memory for accurate recording; instead, you use tools (e.g. pen and paper, video notes, etc.) to keep yourself and others on track.
