CEW+ (Center for the Education of Women+) empowers women and underserved individuals in the University of Michigan and surrounding communities by serving as an advocate and providing resources to help them reach their academic, financial, and professional potential. CEW+ provides resources, career and education counseling, events and workshops, emergency funding, and scholarships.

This position is a member of the CEW+ Counseling and Program Team and reports to the Associate Director.  All CEW+ staff members are eligible to work from home at least 1 day per week.   After successfully completing 3 months of training, an assessment will be completed to determine eligibility for working from home for up to 2 days per week.

Evening/weekend meetings will be required to accommodate student schedules (approximately 8 hours per month).

What You’ll Do:

Program Planning, Implementation, Delivery and Administration 

  • Manage the planning and implementation of student programs that are aligned with priorities of the organization and informed by themes that emerge through counseling appointments
  • Develop project timelines, financials, deliverables and process documentation
  • Manage and delegate tasks to align project needs with skills among CEW+ staff and fill gaps in expertise by identifying skills external to CEW+
  • Escalate needs as necessary to CEW+ leadership.
  • Partner with campus and community organizations to achieve programmatic goals.
  • Manage student employees and/or administrative staff that support this work

Data Collection and Analysis 

  • Collaborate to establish systems of accountability and measures of success for assigned projects
  • Create and deliver progress reports related to assigned projects, for internal and external audiences
  • Monitor emerging trends, research, student interests, and resources to identify opportunities to enhance programming and draw on relevant pieces of literature to support programmatic efforts
  • Implement action plans for improvement based on progress reports and identified opportunities to enhance programming

Program Communication

  • Develop written materials that communicate the goals and outcomes of programs
  • Communicate regularly with the Center’s staff to ensure all efforts are aligned with the Center’s initiatives
  • Support campus engagement of CEW+ invited speakers by leading information sessions, meeting with partner organizations and supporting speakers’ workshops and events
  • Participate in donor stewardship as needed

Develop student success and wellness initiatives

  • Develop and coordinate programming specifically geared to less traditional students to support their academic and career goals
  • Work with CEW+ Leadership to design and implement financial wellness outreach and resources geared toward less traditional students
  • Build on wellness practices and recommend how they can be incorporated in our work with constituents
  • Identify and collaborate with experts to provide and present workshop content
  • Serve as the primary liaison for STEM related partnerships and programming.

Facilitate campus-wide advocacy initiatives

  • Facilitate CEW+ groups that advocate for and support student caregivers
  • Facilitate CEW+ group focused on nontraditional students
  • Advise and coordinate with CEW+ Sponsored Student Organizations and identify potential new student organizations that could be invited to be sponsored student organizations
  • Serve as the liaison to Central Student Government and Rackham Student Government

Lead Campus Engagement efforts

  • Present across campus & conduct frequent outreach to faculty, staff, students, and campus & community organizations on behalf of the organization to elevate awareness of CEW+ resources, programs, events, activities, etc.
  • Publicize and manage distribution of lecture funds to campus partners
  • Manage information fair opportunities across campus and the community.   In collaboration with marketing team, evaluate needs and use of promotional materials.
  • Identify students to work with marketing team who can serve as ambassadors to raise awareness of CEW+ services
  • Identify and build on opportunities for new audiences, partnerships, and collaborators
  • Identify and assess on-campus partnership and funding opportunities (including writing proposals to other units) to support our work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3+ work experience supporting nontraditional students in higher education or lived experience as a nontraditional student
  • 4+ years post degree work or equivalent experience developing and managing  program(s) supporting students in a higher education context
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading a new project from development to launch
  • Noted experience using project management software and comfort with emerging technology
  • Demonstrated  knowledge of equity issues as they relate to career and education
